NEW D'ANGELO II HANDLE 

FOR PATHOS SPEARGUNS

Finally, after a few years, Pathos is ready to present some innovations in its spearguns line, more precisely about the Angel 2 handles.

1-chest support:

its length has been increased in order to make it easier to load the last pin and today it has a wider and more stable surface which eliminates the possibility that the rubber part detaches from the handle body.

2-the geometry of the handle:

it has been modified and improved to allow the hand to "enter" the handle creating a stronger grip and better resistance to shot recoil. It also further lowers the axe between the index finger and the shaft, improving aiming instinct and accuracy. The change in geometry comes from the experience of Giacomo De Mola developed over years of competitions with Pathos spearguns. During competitions athletes cannot afford to lose even one prey, as this would mean losing many positions and over the years he had literally filed the handles of his spearguns to achieve perfection in shooting accuracy. This model reflects 100% of the changes made and he is now proud to claim Pathos has a standard handle deriving from  World , European and Italian championships on-field experience, since as with other sports, evolution is an integral part of competition.

3-handle coupling:

the part of the handle where the removable grip is inserted, has now clips which create a lot more friction between the grip and the handle body so that in longer moves and user can easily change the grip from ergonomic to universal

4-safe system:

the new safety system is indeed a sliding button that mechanically locks the trigger and therefore the release mechanism. Very functional with the possibility of easy activation. It allows user to easily understand if the Speargun is locked or not.

SPEARGUNS COMPARISON

The high quality of PATHOS products has been well known for long time but when everything is so good how to choose your speargun? Short, long spearguns, open or closed muzzle, one band, two bands, bushings, articulated wishbones, plastic or aluminum release mechanisms, sandvik stainless steel shafts, ergonomic handle, etc. How to survive through this jungle of possibilities? We have made this video comparison between two lines of spearguns ALMA and SARAGOS apparently similar but with structural differences to meet the different needs of different types of spearos. MARES POLYGON 80 

SPEARFISHING WETSUIT

In the 2021 catalog, Mares introduces, in addition to the EOS BEAM torch we already wrote about, the POLYGON wetsuit specifically designed for spearfishing.

This wetsuit is available in 3, 5 and 8mm versions and we have tested the thickest version for you, the POLYGON 80. Unlike the other two versions, this two-piece wetsuit (pants + jacket) is characterized by differentiated thickness neoprene. Whole pants, forearms and hood are in 6.5mm while everything else is in 8mm. It is made of open cell SHEICO neoprene (internally), lined in camouflaged lycra  outside, with a high resistance to compression.

The outer lining is in fact the fulcrum of this new product as it was made according to the results of recent studies on the sight of fish that show that the latter can perceive UV rays and contrasting colors. UV rays are reflected by all colors more or less but indigo is the one that reflects them the least in the chromatic scale, so it was used as base color for the polygon camouflage. To reduce the contrasts between colors, this polygonal-based pattern has been studied, hence the name of the suit, which breaks down the overall color making our figure less easily perceptible to the fish.

The wetsuit also has 2 other features that deserve a special mention and are the new design of the neck-chin portion which with an improved profile allows a better adherence and fit for the benefit of the comfort and the design of the upper part of the pants.

The latter have a very high waist in the front, so as to reach the chest, but in the back they have a lower profile in order to optimize thermal protection in the most important and strategic points. The upper end part is therefore made with 3 different materials and the last 10cm approximately are in sandwich neoprene, smooth externally and open cell internally to ensure greater sealing against water infiltrations.

The overall cut is very comfortable and the fit is excellent.
